Room 101

Thanx to QueeneMab for reminding me of this.

Room 101 is a place introduced in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. It is a torture chamber in the Ministry of Love in which the Party attempts to subject a prisoner to his or her own worst nightmare, fear or phobia.

Well here on board it's called "Cabin 101" or "Davy Jones' Lock-up" and like the TV programme "Room 101" each of you is allowed to banish just one item, fear or person of your choice. So choose very carefully - not too many Gordon Browns though.

You don't have to give a reason - but it would be very interesting to know why you're banishing whatever it is!

The Royal Botanical Garden in Edinburgh currently has an exhibition called Protest Pictures, by Richard Hamilton.

There is an installation called "Your Worst Nightmare", which consists of a room, painted in institutional colours, and containing a hard bed with a monitor suspended above it. The monitor is displaying Mrs Thatcher making a speech.

I just thought I would mention it.
