I'm flirting my knickers off here...
....But what's the point ?
*sighs*

ps He could use them as a handkerchief!
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 18:03
I've perked up a bit now...
(Unrequited flirting is a bit of a bummer innit ?)
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 18:09
I would have chosen to show him flirting with the sailors in 'The Naked Civil Servant '...
But of all the films in all of Youtube....
What couldn't I find ?
justgrrl [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 18:12
cool!! ![]()
'beauty is not a woman, but a man's idea of a woman' - isn't that interesting?
*makes note: do some 'research' on the theory of the 'nordic horse putting a foot in your face'*
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 19:59
Now...
By 'your' you didn't mean me did you ?...
As in 'Nordic foot in your face'...
(Please clarify)
Not as if I'm not totally fine with it...
justgrrl [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 21:18
Oh, no, I didn't even think about saying/meaning whatever about you or anyone in particular.
The 'you' is contained in the sentence quoted from Quentin Crisp, I obviously didn’t use proper quoting marks - sorry!
I find QC's 'theory' about the essence of stardom and glamour in Mayer's Hollywood quite interesting - not so new, but excellently told: beauties, at that time, had to be great, blond and like horse putting... Nothing to do with blondes as such...
justgrrl [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 21:41
I've taken the time to write down what Quentoin Crisp says in the video:
"During the reign of Mr Mayer it was a Jewish idea of an Arian woman – you marry some nice Jewish girl – that means that you turn out to marry your mother – but you long for a greeeeat, blond and Nordic horse that’s going to put a foot in your face..."
I find that 'longing for'-theory interesting:
foot of Nordic horse was meant in the face of men (longing for it) in the Hollywood time of Mr Mayer
justgrrl [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 21:41
*urge to over-explain over*
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 22:33
Justgrrl...
That was the most interesting thing...
That Quentin Crisp should be discoursing on the feminine ideal...
Of course feminine beauty is defined by men when they have billions of man-stuff to our one egg...
But that's also the biological imperetive which allows women to be picky...
la_spice [Member] 2008-09-06 @ 08:21
Doesn't the Nordic horse relate to a dominant blonde (Arian woman)? A touch of the Dominatrix?
That's what I understood him to mean.
Hey ho - another career move beckons - where's the peroxide bottle!
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-05 @ 23:26
*light dawns*
I'm such a bad flirter, me
*drops hanky*...
OOoops !
la_spice [Member] 2008-09-06 @ 08:22

modone1966 [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 19:51

rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 20:56
Jeez La...
What hasn't got ears in your book...?
Trifle ?
Washing machines ?
Spiders ?....
(Speaking of which....)
la_spice [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 20:59
Sorry - I'm a trifle deaf - could you shout up a bit
Did you see my spider??? Nearly as big as that mechanical one rampaging round your neck of the woods!
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 21:14
SHE WAS HOOOOGE...
I said...
Although 'rampaging' might be a bit of an overstatement...
In fact 'plodding' might be a bit of an overstatement...
In fact 'moving' might be a bit of an overstatement...
la_spice [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 21:18
But she was definitely hoooooge!
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 21:25
Hooo Yuuurs !
Hoooooge !...
But very slow and horizontal for a spider...
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 21:46
Although I spent the afternoon convincing my mum that it's not a real spider...because they can do anything these days...
rubychoo [Member] 2008-09-07 @ 23:47
As far as drama goes ...
It was all a wee bit precious and not dramatic enough...
