On the blogship lollipop,
While the captain's still up top,
The nurses play,
With the doctor in the dark sick bay.
And the stokers having fun,
With a bottle full of rum,
I don't know the rest of the words, Can anyone help? Any poets around?

Yes, it's just possible that they are the next two lines but your memory may be playing tricks, probably all those cocktails.
Lets just hope,
He doesn't fall on his bum!

You might just have something there Trin, but, possibly not the sort of words that Judy Garland would have sung.
Did somebody ask for a poet?
That's me now wouldn't you know it?
I'm the one with the hat on
And I'm waving my baton
I'm in charge but I try not to show it!

Sorry La_S, now I am well aware that you are the captain, and, may I say, a very good captain, possibly in our dealings I would prefer you to be a little more strict, the occasional use of the whip, the odd bit of keel hauling, but, you have completely lost track of the music.
You didn't say before that you had a baton!
But I'm following your plot! ![]()
Ok last two lines:
"And that's where we are
All night drinkies in the fo'castle bar"
That should fit in with the music!!!
Now then where's my baton? .... some serious chastisement is needed below decks! ![]()
Ooooh nice.
The words or the threat!!!!
I was only reading the last line, Where there any words?
Typical!
selective reading!
Murph's the first Mate
Got a lot on her plate
Keeping the captain sweet
She's rushed off her feet
But is enjoying the fun
And long may it run.
Whilst you do have the excuse murph that you were not born when this song was popular, as some others were, this modern style of poetry where words do not rhyme is not acceptable.
Our Judy ( Garland ) would not have performed your, well written, but simply not right, verse, and if she would not have sung it neither will Madonna when it is offered to her.
You may well be the captains mate but that is no excuse.
